About the Author

Dianna Grundhauser is a quilt artist and author who works as the Accounting Manager for Boys & Girls Club in Maui, Hawaii. She and her husband Bruce have been married for nearly 20 years and live in an area referred to as Upcountry, with their two cats and yellow Labrador, Cody.

Her interest in quilting began when her mom, Barbara Stark, gave her a quilt when she was 18. One class at a local quilting store ignited what was to become a consuming passion for fabric, thread and quilts. Dianna also attributes her creative nature to her maternal grandmother, Esther Walls, who kept her busy with sewing, embroidery and all kinds of arts and crafts as a child. Dianna’s quilting life has taken her from beginning quilter, to quilt shop owner, pattern designer, long-arm quilting fanatic, teacher, and back to simply quilt artist. She is mostly self-taught and is fearless when it comes to trying new concepts and techniques.

Dianna’s work can be seen in several books and magazines. Her quilt Two Scoop Rice, won a purchase award at the Art Maui 2000 juried art exhibition and is in the collection of the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts.
